MAYVILLE – Chautauqua County’s longtime Director of Mental Hygiene Services is retiring.

Patricia Brinkman has held the job since 2000 working to help those facing mental health and substance abuse challenges.

Her work, spanning more than two decades, has advanced the county’s support services with the director working behind the scenes to increase revenue generated by health clinics, state and federal funding through grants.

By establishing financial stability for the department, Brinkman and her staff have been able to expand its services over the years.

Most recently, the county launched a new website, CHQAddiction.org, to help those struggling with substance abuse additions find help.

Brinkman’s last day in office is Friday as she plans to remain a Chautauqua County resident and focus more time on her husband and family, as well as write, consider volunteer activities and looks forward to travelling when it is safe to do so.
