BEMUS POINT – A big rig hauling railroad car couplers overturned closing the on-ramp connecting Route 430 to Interstate 86 near Bemus Point on Wednesday afternoon.

New York State Police Captain Eric Balon tells WNY News Now the truck was rounding a curve in the roadway when its back tire caught the pavement’s edge causing the rig to overturn.

The Bemus Point Fire Department was dispatched around 3:18 p.m. to the rollover crash. Chautauqua County EMS and New York State Police also responded to the scene.

Crews had to offload the couplers from the trailer before it could be turned upright.

The driver of the rig, Balon says, was treated for scrapes and bruises at the scene.
