OLEAN – The search for a missing autistic Olean man has entered its fifth day.

Olean Police say 22-year-old Cole Geise was last seen on Sunday.

Police Captain Robert Blovsky tells WNY News Now his department is scaling back the organized search, focusing more on gathering tips from the community about Geise’s possible whereabouts.

The most credible tip so far, Blovsky says, was from Sunday where a hunter in a wooded area off Old Rock City Road south of Olean reported seeing a person matching his description. That area has seen been thoroughly searched.

“Keep Cole’s picture handy, if you think you may see him right away call police,” said Blovsky. “I would not approach Cole, being autistic he may be a little afraid of people just coming up to him, he may try to hide, or walk away, or run.”

Geise, Blovsky says, either left home looking for a new place to live or is lost. He is possibly wearing a blue zip up coat, red checkered pajama pants and sneakers. He also walks with a limp.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police at (716) 376-5677.
