Over Half Of Chautauqua County Residents Vaccinated For COVID-19 So Far

MAYVILLE – Over half of those 18 and up living in Chautauqua County have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine so far.

According to New York State’s COVID-19 Vaccine Tracker, more than 53,000 people making up 51 percent of the county’s total population have received at least one dose of the vaccine.


Of those, 44,965 fully immunized countywide.

In nearby Cattaraugus County, nearly 45 percent of the population has received the shot, with 27,000 people getting at least one dose of the vaccine so far.

There are more than 22,000 people considered to be fully vaccine in Cattaraugus County.



Because of increased vaccinations, New York State leaders are relaxing COVID-19 gathering guidelines.

Starting Monday, outdoor gatherings can now have up to 500 people

Any event that exceeds those limits can only happen if everyone has proof of full vaccination or a recent negative COVID-19 test.

Starting on May 19, most capacity restrictions in the state will also be lifted.



That includes retail establishments, food services, gyms, fitness centers, amusement parks, entertainment, hair salons, barbershops, and offices.
