JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown Fire Department will be holding a “Child Safety Seat Event” later this month.

According to the department, four out of five child safety seats are installed incorrectly.

As such, free seat checks will be offered by certified technicians on June 22 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Taylor Training Grounds, located at 240 Harrison Street in Jamestown.

To help sweeten the deal, kids who tag along with their parents for a car seat check will have the opportunity to tour a fire truck.

The event is co-hosted by the Jamestown Fire Department, Ardent Solutions, and the Chautauqua Safety Village.

The program is funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee.

Appointments are required for a child seat check. To schedule one, call (505) 808-7036.
