MAYVILLE – For the first time in over ten months, no new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Chautauqua County on Tuesday.
The Health Department says the last day zero new cases were reported was August 14, 2020.
There are only five active cases of the virus now, with 24 people monitored under isolation and quarantine orders.
In what Chautauqua County Executive PJ Wendel calls a “recovery milestone,” he says the decline in cases is likely connected to increased vaccinations.
“This is an encouraging indicator that the vaccinations are working to stop, and prevent the spread of the virus in our community,” said Wendel.
According to New York State’s COVID-19 Vaccine Tracker, nearly 61,000 people have received at least one dose of the shot countywide, with more than 55,000 fully immunized.
