One Killed In Head-on Crash On I-86 In Chautauqua County

UPDATE @ 10:30 AM:

NORTH HARMONY – One person was killed in an early morning head-on crash on Interstate-86 in Chautauqua County Thursday.


Chautauqua County Sheriff’ Jim Quattrone tells WNY News Now his department’s accident reconstruction team is investigating the crash, which he says happened after a wrong-way driver hit a vehicle traveling west on the highway.

The Sheriff says one person was killed as a result of the collision, and another person was seriously hurt.



The New York State Department of Transportation reports I-86 westbound from exit 8 (Route 394) to exit 7 (Panama-Stedman Road) was closed for nearly six hours. It has since reopened.

NORTH HARMONY – A stretch of Interstate-86 westbound is closed due to a fatal crash.

The New York State Department of Transportation says I-86 westbound from exit 8 (Route 394) to exit 7 (Panama-Stedman Road) is closed.

The shutdown happened around 5:30 a.m. Thursday, and the DOT says the road will likely be closed for up to four hours.
