JAMESTOWN – The Audubon Community Nature Center’s Wild 5K Run/Walk will make its return this year, and there is incentive to sign up early.

People who want to participate in the event should sign up as soon as possible, as the race is limited to 200 members. Furthermore, those who sign up before July 19 will receive a free t-shirt at the race, which is scheduled to take place on July 31 around 9 a.m.

As of right now, the Center is planning to create a socially-distanced and possibly chipped start to the race.

The event will take place regardless of the weather. The running/walking path is largely on bare ground, with a small portion on pavement. The trail winds under bridges and across uneven terrain.

Awards will be given to the top three finishers from both the male and female participant pools. Age group awards will be provided to the top three finishers in each division for runners and top finisher in each division for walkers.

The schedule is as follows on July 31: From 8 a.m. until 8:45 a.m., there will be day-of race registration. At about 9 a.m., the race will begin. At 11 a.m., the awards ceremony will commence in the Stephanie Frucella Education Pavilion in Audubon’s backyard.

The fee to enter the race is $30, or $27 for Nature Center members. For more information and to sign up, visit auduboncnc.org.

The Center is also looking for race volunteers who can assist with set up, runner check-in, snack station, route monitoring, and clean-up. If you are interested in helping out, you can contact Audubon at (716) 569-2345.
