ALBANY (WENY) – Officials in New York are cracking down on underage drinking this summer.

After being canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, summer concerts are back on. This raises concerns when it comes to fake ID’s and serving alcohol to minors.

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Monday that state investigators will be on patrol cracking down on use of fake ID’s at popular summer concert venues.

Starting this week, Operation Prevent will kick off. This is an effort to stop underage drinking and enhance safety while out of the roads.

Anyone who is caught using a fake ID can risk being ticketed and losing their license for 90 days to a year.
