JAMESTOWN – More than half of all Chautauqua County residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

That’s according to New York State’s COVID-19 vaccine tracker, which shows that more than 64,400 residents, or 50.4 percent of the population, are vaccinated against the virus.

That number includes 614 people who received a first dose during the week of August 1 through August 7.

The tracker also indicates that just over 60 percent of adults in the county have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

Meanwhile, more than 59,000 county residents, or 46.5 percent of the population, have completed the vaccine series. That includes 393 people during the past week.

There are currently 40 active cases in the county, with six new cases this week.

The latest figures from the CDC show that over 64 percent of New York State’s population has been administered at least one vaccine dose, including 76.4 percent of people ages 18 and older. 57.7 percent of state residents are now fully vaccinated, including 69.2 percent of adults.
