Chautauqua County’s COVID-19 Community Transmission Level Increases

MAYVILLE – The community transmission level of COVID-19 in Chautauqua County is now considered to be high, according to the CDC.

The county’s COVID-19 Dashboard announced the new development on Monday, when officials reported 91 new cases of the virus and one additional death.

The new data ranges from Friday through Sunday. Much of the new cases are linked to the COVID-19 delta variant, county officials previously said.

In addition to the high transmission level, the county’s seven-day average positivity rate also increased to 5.2 percent.

The good news, however, is with the county’s hospitalizations that remain relatively low, with only seven people seeking treatment countywide.

To date, over 9,300 people have recovered from the virus out of 9,700 cases reported.

As for vaccinations, New York State’s Department of Health reports 51 percent of county residents, 65,000 people, have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
