ELLICOTT – An employee of a local business is facing charges after allegedly stealing over $8,000 in scrap.

Town of Ellicott Police were contacted by management at the unidentified business that they were missing a large amount of brass hardware.

Through investigation, officers allege that 44-year-old William Finch, of Celoron, removed brass from the business on a daily basis from October of 2019 to July of this year.

Finch, police say, sold the brass at a local scrap yard for money.

Police say Finch was arrested for grand larceny and was released. He is expected to appear in the Town of Ellicott Court to answer the charges at a later date.
