Warren School Parents Can Sign Form For Medical Exemption To Mask Order

WARREN (Erie News Now) – A newly approved policy in the Warren County School District is allowing some families to get around the state’s mask mandate without something as basic as a note from a doctor.

This week’s vote by the school board lets parents sign a form stating their child has a medical or mental reason to not wear a mask with no need for a note or signature from a doctor or other healthcare professional.

That’s because the school district said the mask order does not currently require the medical or mental condition to be substantiated by a medical professional.

If the state changes or clarifies the order, the district is warning parents they may be required to provide medical proof.
