FALCONER – The annual fall flushing of water mains is set to get underway in the Village of Falconer.

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities’ Water Division says flushing will start at 1 p.m. Friday in the areas of Aldren, Mapleshade, Ralph and Valmeere.

The entire village will be flushed on Saturday from 8 p.m. to Sunday morning. During that time residents may notice discolored water in the village and on the north side of Jamestown.

The remainder of the system will be flushed from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and continue the following week. Flushing will take place early Wednesday morning accommodate downtown Jamestown and Fairmount Avenue businesses.

The flushing occurs twice a year to help clean any naturally occurring sediment that builds up in the water lines by opening fire hydrants systematically and letting water run full force.

Maps showing which areas will be flushed what day are posted at jamestownbpu.com.
