WARREN (Erie News Now) – The Warren County School District’s revised face mask policy will stay in place for at least another week or so after a federal judge agreed to delay Wednesday’s scheduled court hearing on the matter.

The judge granted a delay in the case to give the district a chance to reach an out-of-court settlement with a group of parents who filed a lawsuit, claiming the district’s policy was too lenient.

Last week, the same judge issued a temporary restraining order, telling Warren County school leaders their policy of letting kids get out of wearing a mask in school without a doctor’s excuse violated the state’s mask order.

The federal court hearing has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 10 a.m., and face masks will still be required in the meantime.
