ALBANY – New York State has launched a new initiative aimed at getting kids vaccinated against COVID-19.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced the “Vaccinate, Educate, Graduate” during her weekly briefing on Tuesday.

She says the initiative enables children who get the COVID-19 vaccination by December 19 to be entered into a pool where 50 names will be chosen to receive a full ride to a SUNY or CUNY institution.

Hochul says the winners will be announced over five weeks, between November 24 and December 20.

“There’s two great gifts you can give your children; one is the gift of good health and that’s what they’ll get when you get them vaccinated,” said Hochul. “The second is a shot at getting this full-ride scholarship.”

Parents are able to enter their kids online at governor.ny.gov/programs/vaccinate-educate-graduate.
