Ripley Woman Sentenced For Setting Arson Fire

MAYVILLE – A Ripley woman was sentenced Wednesday in connection with an August arson fire.

The Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office says 53-year-old Melissa Bridges will spend three to nine years behind bars after she was convicted of third-degree arson, a class D felony.

Bridges was accused of setting several “items” on fire next to a residence at 100 West Main Street in Ripley back on August 5. The flames grew and eventually ignited the house.


There was one resident inside the apartment building at the time the fire, fortunately he was uninjured.
