JAMESTOWN – An area coffee shop continues to give back in a big way.
The locally owned Tim Hortons chain presented Joe Lavare and the American Cancer Society with a check for $10,000 over the past weekend.
According to the franchise owner Blake Tarana, the funds were raised during a week long cookie sale at all seven of their locations in Jamestown, Lakewood, and Olean.
Every year the American Cancer Society teams up with college basketball programs for their Coaches vs Cancer program. Taking the $10,000 donation made by Tim Hortons Jamestown-Olean, and the money raised by fans at the St. Bonaventure Bonnies basketball game on Saturday, $15,000 was donated on behalf of St. Bonaventure University.
“As a 2011 graduate from St. Bonaventure University, I am so honored to finally be able to work with the university on projects like Coaches vs Cancer now that we own the locations in Olean,” said Tarana. “Our communities support us every day, so we are always excited to be able to give back to better those communities. To be able to team up with St. Bonaventure University, this was the perfect opportunity to work together!”
In the end, Tarana thanks everyone in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus County for their support making this fundraiser possible.
