SHERMAN – A 46-year-old man is behind bars after he was allegedly busted with around $16,000 in illegal narcotics in Chautauqua County this week.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office stopped Edwin Hannold Jr. on Main Street in Sherman for a fictitious inspection sticker on Tuesday morning.

During their investigation, deputies say the Sheriff’s Office K-9 alerted to possible drugs in his vehicle.

Following a search, deputies allegedly recovered over 15 ounces of illegal narcotics with a street value of approximately $16,000, a loaded handgun, and over $800 dollars in cash.

Hannold was charged with several crimes including felonies before he was taken to the Chautauqua County Jail.

Authorities continue to ask members of the community to call and report suspicious or narcotics related activity within their neighborhoods to the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force (716) 664-2420.
