Man Dies After Falling Off Roof At Chautauqua Institution Hotel

CHAUTAUQUA – A man who fell off the roof of a Chautauqua Institution Hotel Friday has died.







First responders, including the Town of Chautauqua Fire Department, were called to the St. Elmo Hotel at 1 Pratt Avenue around 8 a.m. Friday.

The 51-year-old, dispatch reports indicate, fell five stories to the ground below.







CPR was in progress when crews arrived on scene.

A medical helicopter was put on standby, but later was called off.













Chautauqua County Sheriff Jim Quattrone confirmed to WNY News Now the County Coroner was called to the scene to investigate the death.

Later in the day Friday, deputies said the man was working a construction job at the time.

The incident, as of 7 p.m., remains under investigation. The victim’s identity was not identified.
