MAYVILLE – A Falconer man accused of raping a 14-year-old has been convicted in the case.

The Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday that Devon Smith was convicted of third-degree rape, a class E felony, and first-degree knowingly possess dangerous contraband in prison, a class D felony.

Smith, prosecutors said, forced sexual intercourse and other sexual contact with a 14-year-old in December 2020.  No other details of the investigation were revealed.

Smith will be sentenced in June and could face one to three years in state prison on the rape charge and one to four years on the contraband charge per a plea agreement.

The sentences, the DA’s office reports, would be served consecutively to each other.
