MAYVILLE – A Dunkirk man was convicted on a felony weapons charge this week after police said he discharged a handgun on a city street last summer.

The Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office says 32-year-old Erick Threatt was convicted of the crime that took place in June 2021.

At the time, City of Dunkirk Police said Threatt fire a 9mm hand in the 400 Block of Main Street, Dunkirk.

Threatt was arrested following a short foot pursuit with responding patrol officers.

The DA’s Office says Threatt will be sentenced to seven years in state prison, plus five years post-release supervision, as the result of a plea deal, he reached with prosecutors.
