JAMESTOWN – Several large snakes were among pets rescued from a Jamestown house fire Wednesday morning that sent one man to the hospital for burns.

Fire crews responded to a structure fire call at 41 Linwood Avenue in Jamestown around 8 a.m.

An elderly male was transported to UPMC Chautauqua via Alstar EMS Ambulance for burns, but all other residents of the single-family home made it out unharmed.

Flames were quickly extinguished by members of the Jamestown Fire Department, who then did a secondary search of the home, discovering several pets including a ferret, cats and two large snakes.

Fire Department officials tell us the Red Cross has since been called in to assist the family displaced.
