FALCONER – A 66-year-old Falconer woman died after she was hit by a pick-up truck while crossing a busy street Tuesday.

Town of Ellicott Police report Louise Chiazzese was crossing West Main Street around 2:30 p.m. when she was hit by a vehicle.

Following an investigation, officers report a 2014 Dodge Pickup truck, operated by Stephen Fiorelle, of Celoron, turned west from Phetteplace Street onto Main when he struck Chiazzese.

Ellicott Police, along with the Falconer Fire Department and Chautauqua County EMS, then responded. Chiazzese was later pronounced dead at the scene.

While police say the crash appears to be a tragic accident, Fiorelle was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian.

At the time of the collision, the area was very busy with both vehicle and pedestrian traffic due to school dismissal in the area.

Officers say it is very important for both drivers, and those walking the streets alike, to pay extra attention when traveling during peak times.
