JAMESTOWN – Two people were arrested after assaulting an officer Thursday afternoon.

Officers patrolling the city of Jamestown spotted 37-year old Jorge Garay, who had felony warrants from JPD, walking on East 8th street near Fulton street.

When officers approached Garay to take him into custody, he had attempted to run away, despite verbal commands by officers to stop.

Following a pursuit, officers were able to detain him. While placing him under arrest a woman that was traveling with Garay, later identified as 28-year old Christine Baca, attempted to push arresting officers off of Garay.

Beca was charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration in the 2nd degree. Garay was charged with Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the 2nd degree, and the original felony robbery warrant.

Both were placed under arrest and transported to city jail awaiting arraignment.
