DUNKIRK – Northern Chautauqua County is among the many places preparing for a weekend full of festivities this Independence Day.

The Lake Erie shoreline in Dunkirk will play host to several events for the public spanning the next few days.

A 5k run is planned to kick things off Saturday morning at Wright Park. The “Marauder Trotter,” as it is known in the community, welcomes anyone who signed up prior to June 30th.

Later on, Memorial Park on Lake Shore Drive will steal the show with a series of musical performances each night over the long weekend.

Finally, to close out the holiday, the City of Dunkirk will present its annual fireworks show over the harbor Monday evening. According to local officials, it is the largest display offered in all of Chautauqua County.
