CLEVELAND, OH (Erie News Now) – The NFL will appeal the six game suspension of Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, it was announced Wednesday by the NFL in a statement.

This means that another hearing will take place to determine if the suspension length will be increased, decreased, or remain the same.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will determine who will hear the appeal. In the previous hearing, the NFL and NFLPA jointly appointed judge Sue L. Robinson to preside. Robinson issued a six game suspension on Monday.

The NFL had until Thursday morning to appeal the suspension. Reports indicate that the NFL wants at least a year suspension for Watson.

In a statement Sunday, the NFLPA reiterated it will not appeal the ruling. “Regardless of her decision, Deshaun and the NFLPA will stand by her ruling and we call on the NFL to do the same.”
