WASHINGTON, D.C. – Newly elected U.S. Representative Joe Sempolinski tells us he’s hit the ground running his first week at the Capitol.

In a telephone interview, Sempolinski says he’s already participated in committee hearings and even held debates on the floor.

While he’s only in office for about four months, he says he’s made sure to get his constituent services up and running again throughout western New York.

“We are certainly not only being reactive to the things that come up but we’re being aggressively proactive,” said Sempolinski. “Looking for opportunities to make the lives better for the people in the district.”

Sempolinski says during his time in office he wants to focus on issues that are important in the district, like the West Valley Demonstration Project in Cattaraugus County, which is home to the only commercial spent nuclear fuel reprocessing facility in the U.S. as well as focusing on budget and education issues for his district.
