UPDATE @ 2:00 PM FRIDAY:

SILVER CREEK, NY (WNY News Now) – An irate Jamestown man was seriously hurt after police say he jumped in front of a tractor trailer on Interstate-90.





Around 3:15 p.m. Thursday New York State Police said the man, identified as 48-year-old Hector Colon Rodriguez, was riding in a Medicaid taxi headed westbound on I-90 when he reportedly became “irate.”

The van’s driver then pulled over onto the right shoulder before Colon Rodriguez exited the vehicle from the rear driver’s side. He then proceeded to jump into the path of a tractor trailer.

Colon Rodriguez was air lifted to Erie County Medical Center for serious, non-life-threatening injuries. Police say he is currently listed in stable condition.





















The highway was closed for around an hour. No tickets were issued as a result of the crash, and no other injuries were reported.

SILVER CREEK, NY (WNY News Now) – A man was struck by an 18-wheel tractor trailer on Interstate-90 in Chautauqua County on Thursday.

According to fire dispatch, the accident happened around 3:15 p.m. in the westbound lane of I-90 near mile marker 457.8 between Hanover and Allegany Roads.

The person, who was reported to be unconscious but breathing, possibly suffered a head injury, officials said.

A medical helicopter was called to the scene with crews shutting down the highway around 3:30 p.m. in order to create a landing zone for the chopper.

Around 3:50 p.m. the victim was medevacked to ECMC Hospital in Buffalo.

Traffic, dispatch reports, will be diverted at the Silver Creek exit.
