WASHINGTON, D.C. (Newsource) – The Biden Administration is trying to make the trek to school a little less harmful to the environment.

On Wednesday, Vice President Kamala Harris will announce rebate awards for school districts that buy new school buses, which are mostly electric.

The White House says the Environmental Protection Agency’s “clean school bus” program is delivering nearly 2,500 electric and low-emission vehicles to districts nationwide.

This will be the first-time electric buses will be among the transportation fleets in 12 states, including South Dakota, Kentucky, and Ohio,

Although most of these buses are 100-percent electric, a few will be boosted by propane or compressed natural gas.

Areas will also be given funds to build charging stations, but local officials will determine exactly how the money will be spent.
