MAYVILLE, NY (WNY News Now) – A Jamestown man has been convicted of assaulting doctors and nurses at UPMC Chautauqua Hospital.

On Tuesday, the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office announced James Morris was convicted of second-degree felony assault in connection with the crime.

While a patient at the hospital, prosecutors said Morris attacked several doctors and nurses trying to provide care in October 2020.

DA Jason Schmidt said in a statement, “our medical staff work tirelessly to help the injured and sick of our community; those persons who attack and hurt them will be held accountable.”

As a result of the conviction, Morris was sentenced to four years in State Prison plus three years of parole supervision.
