ERIE, Pa. (Erie News Now) — The IRS is expecting more than 168 million tax returns this year, and many Americans have already gotten a jump on tax season.
To help combat this, the IRS is offering a free file program, allowing for anyone who makes less than $73,000 a year to file their taxes for free.
Meanwhile, tax experts say it’s been a taxing start to the year.
“So far, it’s actually been busy,” said Jason Williams, Office Manager at Liberty Tax on the corner of 38th & Peach. “A lot of people seem to be coming in a little bit earlier this year. I guess they’re in need of their refunds sooner than they were last year.”
