LAKEWOOD, NY (WNY News Now) — A Lakewood woman is accused of causing two vehicle crashes and fleeing police; all while allegedly driving drunk. Since then, she has been released due to bail reform.
On Thursday evening the Lakewood-Busti Police Department responded to a hit-and-run crash at the Chautauqua Mall.
Officers later located a vehicle matching the suspect’s description. When they stopped the vehicle on East Summitt Avenue, patrol personnel made contact with the driver: Robin Rivera.
The 34-year-old, police say, had a strong odor of intoxicants and exhibited signs of slurred speech. She also failed to provide a driver’s license.
Shortly after stopping her car, Rivera allegedly drove off. A vehicle chase then ensured through the Village of Lakewood at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle pursuit came to an end when Rivera crashed into two parked vehicles and a utility pole. That’s when officers say Rivera fled on foot but was shortly after arrested.
She was taken to UPMC Chautauqua Hospital for evaluation of minor injuries.
Rivera faces a slew of charges including unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, driving while intoxicated and a dozen other vehicle and traffic charges.
After treatment at the hospital, police say Rivera was released with an appearance ticket.
