School Zone Police Chase Arrest

JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – A 25-year-old man is accused of speeding through a Jamestown school zone after almost causing a crash with on-coming vehicles in the area.

On Wednesday morning officers with Jamestown Police observed a white Ford Escape fail to stop at the intersection of Brad Street and Foote Avenue.

Police say the SUV, operated by Matthew Haskins, sped across four lanes of traffic on Foote Avenue almost causing a crash with on-coming vehicles.

When officers gave pursuit, Haskins allegedly failed to stop and continued through the Jefferson Middle School speed zone on Martin Road as students were walking to class.

Haskins eventually pulled over inside Bradmar Circle where he was arrested.

Due to New York State’s bail reform law, the suspect was later released with an appearance ticket for several traffic violations and driving on a suspended license.
