ELLICOTT, NY (WNY News Now) – The community came together over the weekend raising thousands of dollars for a Jamestown area soup kitchen.
On Saturday the St. Susan Center held their 20th Annual Basket Fair at the Fluvanna Community Church.
The community donated over 120 baskets which were raffled off, alongside several door and grand prizes which included a patio set, smart television and cash prize.
St. Susan Center supporter Debbie Warner tells us she looks forward to taking part in the event every year. She is proud that the center does more than just feed those in need.
“Socialization for those that are homeless and tend to be loners; they get fed not only in the stomach, but they get fed by being friends with people and socializing, it’s very important I think,” explained Warner.
After tallying proceeds, the community helped to raise $24,000 dollars which will be used solely to further the center’s mission of helping those in need.
