UPMC officials say they’re lifting mask mandates at most of their buildings, starting on May 1st.

UPMC put out a statement that read in part, “Universal masking is no longer required at most UPMC facilities and locations, beginning May 1st, but will be required in specific patient care areas where patients are particularly vulnerable to infection.”

They say COVID-19 protections, including voluntary masking, and standard transmission-based precautions remain in effect.

Allegheny Health Network, including Saint Vincent facilities, lifted the mask mandate at its hospitals, outpatient clinics and other patient-facing facilities last Thursday.
