DUNKIRK, NY (WNY News Now) – An abandoned Dunkirk home went up in flames early Wednesday morning.

Crews were called to 532 Columbus Avenue in the City of Dunkirk at around 12:05 a.m.

Upon arrival crews discovered the back of the one story house was engulfed in flames.

The crew was able to get the blaze under control quickly and avoid stray flames from spreading to neighboring homes. However, a nearby shed did face some damage.

No one was harmed as a result of the fire, but the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team has ruled the cause “incendiary in nature.” The case has been turned over to the Dunkirk Police Department for further investigation.

As the structure was vacant and boarded up, the cause of the fire is now under investigation for its incendiary nature.
