BEMUS POINT, NY (WNY News Now) – After a three year hiatus, Bemus Point’s antique boat show has returned over the weekend.
Dozens of boats decades old lined the village park, with many more in the water.
Some boats dated back all the way to 1950, with one show-goer having motors dated from 1913.
The antique boat show is not only a day for people to view old boats, but also to see the history that has been on Chautauqua Lake.
“I think if you look around at the history of what went on and has gone on on Chautauqua Lake for many many years,“ explained Bemus Point Mayor Jeffery Molnar. “This is evidence that the boats go back a long way in time. All you have to do is take a trip to the Lawson Center and you can see and learn an awful lot about what goes on here.”
This is the first time the show has returned since the COVID-19 pandemic.
