WARREN, PA (WNY News Now) – The 34-year-old Jamestown felon suspected of murder has escaped from Warren County Jail according to the City Of Warren police and is on the run.
Burham was last seen at approximately 11:20 p.m. Thursday night wearing a blue denim jacket and prison issued clothing.
Officials in a press conference on Friday say that he tied bed sheets together into a rope and used exercise equipment to escape from a recreation area of the jail.
Burham would have been normally restrained when moving around the jail, but because he was in a recreation area at the time of his escape he was not under any restraints.
As of the latest updates, Warren County Police do not believe he received any help in his escape. He is not known if he is still in the area or not.
Multiple local, state, and federal agencies are involved in the search and are working to apprehend Burham as soon as possible.
Officials are urging citizens to ‘lock their doors and stay vigilant’. Officials say that he is known to be very dangerous and not to approach him but to instead call 9-1-1 immediately.
WNY News Now reached out to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office for comment, but officials are unable to speak on the incident stating “not at this time, no”.
Jamestown Police Chief Tim Jackson confirmed that the JPD are currently in Warren working with officials to apprehend the escapee.
This is a developing story, check back often for updates as they become available.
