JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – The Babe Ruth World Series kicks off in a little over two weeks, and to raise funds for the baseball competition, the nonprofit held their annual World Series of Wheels over the weekend.

The event saw dozens of cars of all makes and models, from old school, classics, motorcycles, to newer sport cars

In addition over 40 vendors made their way to the event.

The Chautauqua County Meals on Wheels was also on location selling breakfast.

According to board member Kim Eckland, both the Baseball event, and car show have been occurring for many years.

“So this started back in 1983 as a fundraiser by the Antique Car Club for the Babe Ruth World Series,“ explained Eckland. “Which we started in 1980, so essentially 40 years that we’ve had a car show to benefit the World Series.”

Eckland also says the league is still looking for national anthem singers and Diamond Girls, also known as hostesses, for the world series.

The Babe Ruth World Series kicks off from August 12 through the 19.
