ELMIRA, NEW YORK (WNY NEWS NOW) – The Jamestown Tarp Skunks of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League saw their season come to an end on Sunday. 

Jamestown faced off against the Elmira Pioneers in the semi-finals of the West division of the PGCBL. In a best of one series, Jamestown struggled to get anything going against Elmira, losing 7-0.

Elmira pitcher, Gardner Meeks threw 9 innings of shut out baseball, striking out 10, while only allowing 2 hits.


The loss for Jamestown ends their 2023 season after finishing in 3rd place in the regular season with a record of 23-18.

In the other semifinal game of the West division on Sunday, the Auburn Doubledays knocked off the number one seeded Batavia Muckdogs 4-2.

Auburn will now head to Elmira on Monday for the West division Championship. The winner of that game will face the champion of the Eastern league in a best of 3 series starting August 2nd.
