Ellicott, NY (WNY News Now) – On July 27, 2023, at approximately 8:46 PM, the Ellicott Police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Wegmans, located at 945 Fairmount Ave. A male suspect identified as Jason Galarza was detained after leaving the store on a bicycle with stolen merchandise.
During the incident, Jason Galarza was reported to have left the Wegmans store with two hats without making any payment. The store’s asset protection team confronted him and successfully retrieved the stolen merchandise in the parking lot outside the store.
The Ellicott Police Department responded and managed to locate and detain Jason Galarza. Following an investigation, he was issued an appearance ticket for petit larceny. Jason is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellicott Court at a later date.
