ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WNY News Now) – Robert Bibbins (50) of Rochester, NY, has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography after his previous conviction for a similar offense. The plea was entered before U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford, as announced by U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross today.

On September 22, 2022, during a routine search, parole officers found the concealed phone in a trash can at Bibbins’ halfway house. The officers made a shocking discovery of sexually explicit images of children and naked minors on the device. Further scrutiny by the FBI uncovered multiple sexually explicit images of children.

In 2015 Bibbins was convicted of a child pornography offense in New York State Court, leading to jail time and a 10-year probation. However, in 2020, he violated his probation, resulting in an additional prison sentence of one to three years. Bibbins was released on parole on September 19, 2022, but just three days later, he breached parole conditions by acquiring an internet-capable cellular phone.

Sentencing is scheduled for December 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. before Judge Wolford.
