Murderer Receives 25 Years to Life


Erie County, NY (WNY News Now) – A 40-year-old resident of Depew received the maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison for the murder of his ex-wife.

Sayed Nasir, 40, was found guilty of Murder in the Second Degree and Aggravated Criminal Contempt on June 9, 2023. The conviction stemmed from an incident on November 20, 2021 when Nasir unlawfully entered his ex-wife’s residence on North Creek Drive in Depew, breaching an existing order of protection. Nasir attacked his ex-wife, Nazeefa D. Tahir resulting in her death. The victim was alone at home preparing for their child’s birthday party later that day.

Nasir had a history of domestic violence and had been on probation due to a previous conviction related to his ex-wife. He pleaded guilty to Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree and was sentenced to three years of probation and mandatory participation in a domestic violence program.


Jurors deliberated for only 33 minutes after a five-day trial before arriving at their decision.
