(WNY News Now) – Deputies from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle accident in Ellicott on August 20th, 2023, resulting in the arrest of a Dunkirk, NY, man on charges of DWI and related offenses.
Chautauqua County, NY – On August 20th, 2023, at approximately 12:02 am, deputies from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to an emergency call reporting a motor vehicle accident with injuries along Rt. 380 in the Town of Ellicott.
Upon their arrival at the scene, deputies discovered a vehicle and identified its operator as Ryan C. Collins, 24, a resident of Dunkirk, NY. Following an investigation, law enforcement determined that Collins had been operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
Ryan C. Collins was taken into custody and subsequently charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), as well as multiple traffic violations, including moving from lane unsafely, failing to keep right, and driving at a speed deemed unreasonable and imprudent for the circumstances.
Collins sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby local hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. Following his medical examination, he was released with tickets to appear in the Town of Ellicott Court on a later date.
