Suspected Arsonist Indicted for House Fire

(WNY News Now) – A residential inferno that engulfed a residence on July 6, 2023, at 01:06 am, has been attributed to arson, with one individual indicted for Arson 3rd and Burglary 3rd.

Jamestown – Jamestown authorities faced a blaze on July 6, 2023, when the local Fire and Police Departments responded to a fully engulfed structure at 231 Barrows Street. The domicile was tragically obliterated by the fire. Fire and Police investigators declared it an intentional act of arson.


Jamestown Police Department’s Investigators unearthed links to Joshua D. Whalen, 34, who was subsequently indicted by a Chautauqua County Grand Jury for Arson 3rd and Burglary 3rd. Notably, Whalen was already on New York State Parole for a previous arson conviction.

Whalen is confined to the Chautauqua County Jail on 50k / 100k bail, coupled with Parole Violations.
