Suspect Arraigned for Alleged Sale of Fatal Fentanyl-Laced Cocaine

(WNY News Now) – A woman faces charges of Criminal Sale and Possession of Controlled Substances following an investigation into an overdose death.

Buffalo – Ashley M. Holmes was arraigned on Sunday for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance (Class “B” felony) and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class “A” misdemeanor). The arrest came after an overdose death on August 19, 2023, on Linden Avenue. The accused allegedly sold a fatal dose of cocaine mixed with suspected fentanyl.


Police reportedly discovered fentanyl and cocaine in her bedroom. Holmes is set to appear for a felony hearing on September 18, 2023. Despite non-qualifying bail offenses, she was released on her own recognizance.

Conviction on the highest count could lead to a 9-year prison term.
