Three Injured in Near Head-On Collision


(WNY News Now) – A motor vehicle accident on 8/22/2023 in Chautauqua County resulted in injuries to three individuals after a collision between a car and a dump truck.

Carroll – Chautauqua County Sheriffs Deputies, along with New York State Police, Fire, and EMS personnel, responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at approximately 7:22 PM on 8/22/2023. The incident occurred on Frew Run Rd. close to Wiltsie Rd. in the Town of Carroll.

Investigation revealed that Collin L. Stover, 19, from Pittsfield, PA, was heading westbound on Frew Run Rd. At the point of attempting a left-hand turn onto Wiltsie Rd., Stover failed to yield right of way to an eastbound dump truck operated by Jonathan T. Mosher, 24, of South Dayton, NY. The resulting collision narrowly avoided being a head-on collision.


The impact caused injuries to Stover and his passengers, Aaron W. Anderson, 39, of Warren, PA, and Rodney T. Thomas, 34, of Youngsville, PA. The injured parties were transported to UPMC Chautauqua hospital, where they received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Stover has been issued a traffic ticket for failure to yield the right of way at an intersection. He is slated to appear in Carroll Town Court to address the charge on a future date.
