(WNY News Now) – A Buffalo man was sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by 10 years of post-release supervision.
Buffalo – Bilal C. Wright, 45, of Buffalo, has been sentenced to a 10-year prison term followed by 10 years of post-release supervision by Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan. Wright’s guilty plea encompassed four counts stemming from three indictments. His conviction comes after a series of violent incidents.
On March 8, 2022, Wright assaulted a counselor during an appointment, attacking with a computer monitor, punches, and a chair at a Buffalo human services center. He subsequently assaulted a female employee, subjecting her to sexual contact, before being restrained by colleagues.
Further charges arose from incidents while in custody. On April 1, 2022, he punched an Erie County Sheriff’s Office jail deputy through cell bars, and on January 27, 2023, he knocked another deputy unconscious during a search.
Orders of protection for the victims have been issued until 2050 as part of the sentence.
