Drug Bust in Dunkirk Leads to Multiple Charges

(WNY News Now) – A significant narcotics investigation culminated in a search warrant executed at 73 E. Front St. in Dunkirk, resulting in the arrest of one resident and the seizure of a cache of drugs, weapons, and cash.

Dunkirk – On September 8, 2023, a collaborative effort by Narcotics Investigators from the Dunkirk Police Department, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, and FBI led to the execution of a search warrant at 73 E. Front St. in the City of Dunkirk. The operation followed the prior detainment of Draonn Richardson-Copeland on Lake Front Blvd in Dunkirk, where he was apprehended while allegedly attempting to dispose of drug-related evidence.

During the search, law enforcement officials confiscated 2.89 grams of fentanyl, 2.18 grams of methamphetamine, 1.5 grams of Crack Cocaine, a loaded .380 pistol, drug scales, packaging material indicative of narcotics distribution, and $3,261.00 in cash.


Draonn Richardson-Copeland now faces several charges, including Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th, Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd, Criminal Nuisance 1st, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd, and Tampering with Physical Evidence. He has been transported to the Dunkirk Police Department, where he will be arraigned in the City of Dunkirk Court.
